Public Works Combating Weeds

The City of Pasco’s Public Works Department continues removing pesky and unsightly weeds across the City growing in the streets. Crews in sweepers and spray-units are out now in the City to help make the streets stay clean and attractive.

The focus and priorities are:

•Major arterials: This includes all east-west and north-south arterials across the City.

•Major business areas: This includes the Oregon Avenue area, Road 68, Autoplex, and major business areas around the Broadmoor. Weed cleanup in Downtown Pasco has been completed.

•Residential areas.

The herbicide kills weeds on contact and is similar to what can be purchased over the counter from a local hardware store. Licensed City employees are applying the herbicide. Spray vehicles move slow; please be patient and provide the vehicles and equipment room to maneuver. Public Works expects the project to extend through the month of July. Call Public Works at 545-3462 if you see an area that has been missed.

“We appreciate the public’s understanding and patience as we get to all the areas of the City with this weed control effort,” said Public Works Superintendent John Millan. “The unusual winter and spring this year has kept our street crews incredibly busy keeping the streets up to our high standards,” he added.

The City of Pasco strives to continue improving the quality of community life in Pasco.
