The mission of the City Planning Department is to promote the general welfare by ensuring that all development activity follows the City’s Comprehensive Plan, as well as the Subdivision Ordinance, and Zoning Ordinance of the Municipal Code. The Planning Department is charged with overseeing State-mandated updates of the Comprehensive Plan as well as acting in an advisory role to the Planning Commission on Municipal Code revisions.
The Planning Department also administers land-use related planning applications and prepares reports for Planning Commission hearings, Historic Preservation Commission hearings, and Hearing Examiner reports.
