The Engineering Division provides services including: Design, Plan Review, Right of Way Permitting, Inspection and Traffic Services. The Engineering Division includes 14 staff members.
Design:
The design staff implements capital improvement projects and Utility Local Improvement District’s (ULID) for the municipal utilities, streets and special facilities such as the City Shops. Staff engineers and designers prepare and administer construction contracts. Consulting engineers supplement City staff as needed the design group maintains accurate records of installed infrastructure, including utility maps and record drawings.
Plan Review:
The plan review staff reviews proposed streets, water, sewer, irrigation and storm drain utilities on all plans for commercial, industrial, and residential subdivisions. New construction must conform to the City’s Standards and Specifications, the City’s comprehensive utility plans, and to ensure functionality within the City’s existing infrastructure.
Right of Way Permitting:
Work within the public right-of-way or utility easement requires a City of Pasco right-of-way encroachment permit.
Construction Inspection:
To ensure quality and integrity of the City’s infrastructure all construction of public infrastructure within the City of Pasco is subject to inspection from a City inspector. The inspector monitors construction methods, materials, and acceptance testing and recommends acceptance of the completed work to the City Engineer. To do work in the City of Pasco, contractors must be pre-qualified in the City of Pasco Pre-qualification Contractor’s List. Traffic:
Responsible for the design, planning and maintenance of traffic signals. We operate 42 traffic signals, collect and maintain traffic data and provide traffic design and traffic engineering services.
