Local Lawmakers Help Fund Critical Road Extension for Industrial Development

Where: Commercial Avenue (1 mile south of Foster Wells Road)

PASCO, WA – The City of Pasco invites you to attend the Ground Breaking Ceremony for the Commercial Avenue extension project on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. After persistent work by local and state elected officials, the extension of Commercial Avenue will begin late February with final construction work concluding late October. This extension will foster industrial development east of U.S. Highway 395 across from the Pasco Processing Center.

The efforts of area state legislator, Senator Mike Hewitt (Minority Leader, R-16th Legislative District), made the Commercial Avenue extension possible. The city originally budgeted $1,500,000 to construct the extension and utilities. Senator Hewitt and other area legislators secured an $800,000 grant in the state’s 2009 Capital Budget to help the City complete the project.

The extension of Commercial Avenue from Kartchner Street to Foster Wells Road will open up more than 400 acres of land for industrial development. This will foster industrial investment opportunities and create the potential of a new tax base in the Pasco community.

The City of Pasco is creating a better community.
