History and General Information of the All Senior and CommUNITY Picnic:
The All Senior Picnic started in 2001 with a couple hundred people in attendance and a whole lot of fun. The first picnics were all held outside at a local park. Each one of the three main cities, Pasco, Richland and Kennewick will take turns hosting the picnic. The picnic now attracts nearly 1000 participants from the Columbia Basin and surrounding areas, including participants from Oregon and Idaho. Each year there is a variety of entertainment to help set the mood for this fun and festive event. This year, 2019, we will bring on a 50’s 60’s band that will take you back in time to when Sock-Hops were the rage and every weekend you danced your night away.
The picnic has had a few changes over the years and we strive to make it exciting and affordable for all who attend. For this year’s event we are seeking sponsors to help offset costs especially food costs. We have a variety of sponsorship categories that one can choose from, listed below. Our goal this year is to provide 1000 free meals for those 60 years of age or older. Anyone who is under 60 can purchase a meal at a cost of $10 per person. The event will be free of charge and anyone can attend, but in order to eat one must have purchased a meal ticket. Please remember that you will not receive a meal unless you have a meal ticket. Tickets will be redeemable at the time of meal service on the day of the picnic.
All Senior and CommUNITY Picnic buttons will be available for purchase at the Pasco First Avenue Center, and the Kennewick and Richland Community Centers. Buttons and meal tickets will be available by Mid-July. At this time the cost of the buttons are undecided for seniors because we are looking for sponsors to help us offset the costs.
